All you need to know about Peruvian Maca Powder

What Is Maca?

Maca is a plant very similar to a turnip, belonging to the Brassicaceae family. Its botanical name is Lepidium meyenii, and it originates in the Andes.

Its roots are rich in essential nutrients for the health of our body, which is why Maca is considered a Superfood.

Flavor and Texture

Our maca comes from organic farming. It appears as a yellow powder with a sweetish flavor and a very distinctive and pungent taste, ranging between bitter and spicy.

Its taste can be softened by mixing it with other ingredients.

How to Consume Maca?

Organic maca powder is the best way to include this valuable food in your diet.

Maca root powder can be dissolved in water, drinks, milk, and smoothies, or added to doughs for cakes and cookies.

What Is the Process of Gelatinized Maca?

Since the 1990s, this processing method for maca has been introduced. The roots are sun-dried and then undergo gelatinization, which makes maca powder easier to digest (thanks to the absence of starch).

Gelatinized maca is easier to digest, especially for those with sensitive stomachs.
Its nutrients are more concentrated, and some, such as metabolites and minerals, are enhanced.
Gelatinized maca is also more water-soluble, making it easier to dissolve in water or beverages and smoothies.

NaturaleBio produces and sells Gelatinized Organic Maca Powder.

Is gelatinized maca powder vegan?

Yes. Gelatinized maca powder is 100% vegan. The term “gelatinized” refers only to a heat-based processing method used to remove starch from the maca root, making it easier to digest. No gelatin or animal-derived ingredients are used at any stage.

What is the difference between maca and ginseng?

Maca and ginseng are both traditional roots, but they are used differently. Maca is a food root, traditionally consumed daily as part of the diet, while ginseng is considered a stimulating herbal extract. Maca is caffeine-free and suitable for regular use, whereas ginseng is often taken in smaller amounts and for shorter periods.

What is the difference between yellow, red and black maca?

Yellow, red and black maca all come from the same plant (Lepidium meyenii), but they are natural colour varieties with slightly different traditional uses. Yellow maca is the most commonly consumed type and is traditionally used for its balanced profile and suitability for daily use. Red maca and black maca are less common varieties that are often associated with more specific or intense uses. NaturaleBio maca is made from 100% organic yellow maca root.

What is the recommended daily dosage of maca powder?

The recommended daily dosage is 1 teaspoon of maca powder (approximately 5 g), taken as part of a balanced diet.

Does maca help with hormone balance and fertility?

Maca root has traditionally been used as a food to support overall vitality and wellbeing. It does not contain hormones, but is often described as helping the body maintain balance when included in a varied and balanced diet. For this reason, maca is commonly associated with general hormone balance and fertility support in traditional use. Choosing a high-quality, organic maca root powder or capsule is important, as purity and processing play a key role in the overall experience. NaturaleBio maca is made from organic yellow maca root and is suitable for daily use.
