At this time of year, the recipe for Frappe with Coconut Oil could not be missed.
The carnival atmosphere is enchanting, children parade through the streets of the center with the funniest masks, the streets are colored with confetti and streamers.
And then the frappe which are a must, at carnival it is a traditional recipe.
Frappe, Chiacchiere or Carnival Bugie , these are the many ways to call this truly exquisite dessert!
To be fried or in the lighter version (but always delicious!) baked.
Preparation time: ~35 min
Servings for 30 frappes
Mix all the ingredients together: flour, eggs, soft coconut oil, sugar, a pinch of salt, baking soda and the zest of a lemon. When you have obtained a smooth mixture, which must not be sticky, make a ball. Cover it with cling film and let it rest in the fridge for about 30 minutes. Take the dough and roll it out with the help of a rolling pin or with a nonna papera. Obtain a thin sheet and cut it into strips with the help of a serrated wheel. Bring the peanut oil to temperature and fry the frappe with coconut oil for a few minutes. When they are golden brown, place them on absorbent paper. Once dry, sprinkle them with plenty of icing sugar
If you prefer a lighter version of the Frappe, they can be cooked in the oven.
They should be placed on a baking tray with baking paper and Bake at 200° for about 10 minutes or until they are nice and golden.
An even tastier idea? Melt the butter in a bain-marie chocolate with a spoonful of coconut oil, immerse the frappe in it up to halfway and let it cool. They will be even tastier!
Coconut oil gives a crunchiness and a unique flavor.
A very simple recipe which really can't be missing from your table at Carnival!
