All you need to know about Organic Hojicha Powder

When should I take it?

Hojicha can be enjoyed at any time of the day thanks to its naturally lower caffeine content. It is especially suitable in the morning for a gentle start, in the afternoon as a balanced coffee alternative, or in the evening as part of a calming daily ritual.

What does Hojicha taste like?

Hojicha has a smooth, roasted flavor with naturally warm notes of nuts, caramel, and light smokiness. Compared to matcha, it is less grassy, less bitter, and more mellow on the palate.

What is the difference between Hojicha and Matcha?

Matcha and Hojicha both come from Japanese green tea, but they offer two very different rituals. Matcha is made from shade-grown green tea leaves and has a fresh, vibrant taste with natural energy. Hojicha is roasted at high temperature, giving it a smooth toasted aroma and a naturally lower caffeine content.

Why is Hojicha lower in caffeine?

The roasting process naturally reduces the caffeine content of the tea, making hojicha a gentler alternative to coffee or matcha. Our hojicha contains approximately 20 mg of caffeine per serving.

How do I prepare Hojicha?

Add ½–1 teaspoon (1–2 g) of hojicha powder to a small amount of hot water and whisk until smooth. Then add approximately 150–200 ml of water or your preferred milk, hot or cold, and stir well.

Why is Hojicha brown if it comes from green tea?

The roasting process changes the colour of the tea leaves from green to brown and creates its distinctive toasted aroma.
