All you need to know about Spirulina Algae Powder
What is Spirulina?
Spirulina is a member of the single-celled blue-green class of spiraliform algae. This alga has microscopic helical, spiral-shaped filaments that are virtually invisible. It grows in fresh water, mainly in alkaline environments, and is a truly hardy alga. Its dark green color is due to the presence of chlorophyll while its blue color is due to phycocyanin, which is a pigment.
Flavor and texture
The flavor of spirulina powder is really distinctive. You should taste partly chlorophyll and partly fish, although compared to other algae it is less pronounced, which is why it can be more easily integrated into the diet. It comes in the form of a fine powder, its coloration is in dark green tones with blue highlights. Our spirulina comes from organic farming and is cold-dried, this ensures that all its nutrients are preserved.
