Really good vegan protein that doesn't cause bloating! No taste which I chose intentionally and is easy to mix with smoothies etc for a protein fix without a dominant flavour. Only lost one star as there is no scoop!
Tastes great and goes great in my muesli but the best part is - no additives!
Plant proteins have a reputation for chalkiness that I fully expected to encounter here, so the relative smoothness of this blend was a pleasant correction. The pea-rice-hemp combination gives a fuller amino profile than any single source, and at 81 per cent protein the numbers are honest rather than padded with fillers. Blended into a smoothie with banana and cocoa it disappears entirely, and it stirs into porridge without clumping. The absence of added sugar or sweetener means the flavour is earthy and neutral — a virtue, in my view, since I control the sweetness myself. Shaken with plain water, however, the texture turns grainy and the taste distinctly agricultural. It wants a proper blend, not a bottle.
I’m pretty impressed with this powder. I’ve read that a blend of protein types is generally better than relying on just one source, so I like that this includes a mix. I’m also happy that it’s organic, as that’s something I try to look for. Another thing I really like is that it isn’t flavoured like chocolate or vanilla, which makes it much more versatile cos you can mix it into savoury recipes as well as smoothies and baking. The only slight drawback is that there aren’t really any clear guidelines on the pack about how much to use, so I’m a bit unsure of serving size. The taste itself isn’t obvious unless you add too much, although it can be a little gritty. I’m happy with it though and think it’s a useful protein powder.
