Tomorrow, Saturday 5 June, World Environment Day is celebrated. The coming summer and nature in its full luxuriance remind us how fundamental our contribution to the well-being of the Planet is.
Each of us, in our own small way, can do a lot to live in a more sustainable way… from the wardrobe to the table, via house cleaning and the reduction of waste in general.
Here are some tips to contribute to environmental sustainability in an active and positive way.
First, let's define this broad and important concept. sustainability, in itself, is an individual behavior or a true organizational model based on the balance between needs and available resources.
It is made up of three essential facets: social sustainability, economic sustainability and environmental sustainability, precisely.
We talk about environmental sustainability, therefore, to mean a series of habits and policies that implement responsible and controlled exploitation of the environment.
According toHerman Dely, Nobel-nominated environmental theorist, professor at the University of Maryland, and Senior Economist of the World Bank's Environment Department, there arethree essential conditions of eco-sustainability:
Certainly the world governments, the large food and technology multinationals, are the first subjects to have to take on the responsibility of managing the planet's resources more carefully.
But every individual can do a lot to contain pollution, produce less waste and avoid waste. Starting from your home, from your table and yes, from your wardrobe.
There are many fashion brands that have decided to engage in more sustainable product development. They have created entire lines of clothing and footwear, both sports and lifestyle, made with natural materials and packaged with ecological packaging.
We support, for example, the project Green Label, selection of eco-sustainable products chosen by Mirai, an Italian point of reference for fashion retail. An entire section of Mirai's e-commercehas been dedicated to ''Green Label''. The selection includes some of the most well-known clothing brands, such as Tommy Hilfiger, Napajiri and Timberland, and identifies products with low environmental impact.
The choices at the table are essential, both from the point of view of the type of food and of spending in a broader sense. Preferringorganic products, therefore deriving from controlled cultivations that do not use toxic substances and pesticides, is in itself a good first choice to limit pollution, as well as an excellent thing for your health.
Trying to reduce food and non-food waste is another important daily challenge. As? Avoiding buying more than what we need and reusing leftovers with imaginative and tasty recycling ideas. And again, not letting fresh foods expire and doing your shopping methodically, list in hand: these are all good ways to optimize and not waste.
The ethical choices, such as that of following a predominantly plant-based diet with an eye for the quality and origin of food, such as the plant-based diet, can also contribute to environmental balance.
The issue of packaging, envelopes and wrapping is also fundamental. Plastic is one of the biggest scourges on the environment, so even choices likethe use of a reusable canvas bagto make your purchases or the decision to buy fresh fruit and vegetables in bulk instead of vacuum-packed ones in plastic packaging, seem like small things but they have great value in the long term.
We at NaturaleBio are reviewing all the packaging of our products to guarantee increasingly safe packaging for perfect preservation of superfoods, but also increasingly eco-friendly. Soon you will have news on the brand new packs and their features!
